They can be useful in some cases but I agree, you should be able to know how many outs you have and whether your hand is strong enough to win without a calculator.

I believe that you need to use your basic instincts and gut feelings when playing poker. Only play good starting hands and recalculate how good your hand is after the flop in your head, and you will do just fine.

odds calculator also doesn't factor in the bluffs and everything else that u could do

The thing they are best for is limiting the amount of hands you get into preflop by it rating your hand vs how many other ppls are in. Will help you discern good and crappy hands.

Preflop I like it, otherwise, meh, besides if you use that online and grow to depend on it, your real-life game will suffer.

if ur a good poker player u should be able to calculate the odds by urself... besides those calculators usually have spyware with them

odd calculator isn't usefull, you'll just get to used to typing in the cards and receiving the odds, you goto learn how to calculate your odds mentally so that during a tournement with people in front off you, you won't need to take out a calculator, then it could be seen as cheating.

I've tried playing with one before. Personally, I'd rather be able to watch the other players then have to look at that goofy thing telling me what I already knew.

I can see it helping you out when you just begin to learn the game... but after you've learned the game, you should begin to recognize the odds and such in your head and it would only get in the way.
